Members of Cambridge University Pro-Life Society are recording their progress as they commence using a Created4Life Display Table in the City Centre. Here is the third update from the team.
“We took the stall out last Sunday and we went out again this Sunday afternoon. We could only do an hour this Sunday because of other time commitments that volunteers had. The stall was manned by Daniel, who came to the training, and myself.
Cambridge can be a bit of a difficult gig because there are so many Big Issue sellers and campaigning stalls that people get good and ignoring you. All the same, we talked to some people. A woman with three children stopped and we got to show the children what they looked like when they were very little. A couple of men stopped but just looked a bit bemused by us. A group of men stopped to tell us that the wife of one of them was pregnant. We showed him a model of the baby at her current stage of pregnancy and he told us that he'd seen it on the ultrasound last week and saw it wiggling about.
We also talked to two young women who seemed really interested to see the models
and both took a leaflet. Not all reactions were so good. As one women walked past
with her children she said that we were despicable. Even if people don't stop I take
heart that hundreds of people must have walked past the stall in just the hour we
were there and who knows what seeds the sight of the models and photographs might
plant.”
